GUÉNARD (J.). Tableaux représentan au naturel tout ce qui se passe en la Maison Dieu Notre-dame de la Trappe, de l'etroitte observance de l'ordre de Citaux. Paris, rue Saint Jacques, s.d. (circa 1700). in folio, leaves.
Suite of 20 large folio engravings, presenting the various activities of the monks of La Trappe: cooking, baking, carpentry, etc., drawn by J. Guénardet engraved by PierreHeuliez; the title, set in a historiated frame with female figures holding cornucopias, bears the coat of arms of Chevalier de Rancé, knight of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, captain of the port of Marseille, squadron leader of the galleys.
A very rare suite with a rather crude design, but full of charm.
