LA GRANGE-CHANCEL (Joseph de). Odes philippiques with instructive notes. S.l.n.d. (circa 1720). In-12, old red half-maroquin (modern pastiche binding).
Extremely rare first edition, probably published in Holland.
This extremely violent pamphlet evokes the plots hatched against the royal family and the political tensions that shook the Regency at the time; in particular, the author accuses the Duc d'Orléans of having wanted to poison the young Louis XV.
The work consists of four odes accompanied by notes giving the key to the characters. In 1728, the author added a fifth ode on the death of the Dauphin.
