LE ROUILLÉ (Guillaume). Le Recueil des antiques préexcellence de Gaule et des Gauloys. Poitiers, à l'enseigne du pélican, [De Marnef], 1546. - Preceded by : RAMUS. Traicté des façons et coutumes des anciens Gaulloys. Paris, André Wechel, 1559. Together 2 works in a small in-8 volume, brown-stained parchment, ribbed spine, mottled edges (17th century binding). First edition of Le Rouillé's very rare work, reprinted by Wechel in 1551. The work is divided into two parts. The first is dedicated to François Olivier, Chancellor of France, and the second to the Chancellor of Alençon. The 4 unnumbered leaves at the end contain a verse piece entitled Épistre des rossignols du parc d'Alençon, dedicated to the Queen of Navarre, Duchess of Alençon. Michel de Castelnau's translation of La Ramé's work appeared the same year as the Latin original.
