NANCY. In-4, eggplant morocco half-basane, smooth spine decorated, speckled edges (Binding circa 1820).
First edition of the main historical source on the Nancy mutiny, by far the most serious military uprising of the Revolution.
The author of this account, an officer in the Mestre-de-Camp-Général de la Cavalerie regiment, "had the courage to present the truth and indicate the causes that finally caused streams of blood to flow in Nancy". The rebellion led to the suppression of the local national guard, the closure of the Jacobin club in Nancy, numerous capital executions and sentences to the galleys.
Spine faded, otherwise a pleasant copy.
