It is an undoubtedly gothic Pinocchio, already present, in the wooden stump from which it is carved, which with the hollows of the wood and a dry, crooked branch like a syllable already generates a somber mask of the puppet. The stump is in essence is, Corona declares, the puppet in synthesis, its figuration in modernist style as oubject trouvé: the carpenter, but of course also the artist, must "liberate the soul" inherent in it, Michelangelo-like.Marco Corona does this with a sign that recalls the xylographic sign, the wood engraving from which the art of Western printing originated: dry, dry, twisted and suffering.
