Ernst Henseler (Wepritz 1852 - 1940 Berlin), "Letzte Patronen", 1900, oil on wood (with Roman parquetry on the reverse), signed lower left, with various exhibition labels on the reverse, WVZ: Boese 186, 54 x 74 cm, the motif from the Franco-Prussian War was shown at numerous exhibitions as one of the artist's most popular works at the time: Große Berliner Kunstausstellung 1900 (ill. 46 in the catalog) and 1911, Kunstverein Hannover, Frankfurter Kunstverein, Leipziger Kunstverein, Münchener Kunstausstellung 1902 a. o., the background slightly plastered upper right, in wide ivory gold border, overall size: 65 x 85 cm. Provenance: Werner Collection, Neunkirchen. Limit 1800,- >> German painter and draughtsman, 1870/71 Kgl. Kunstschule Berlin (graduated at the top of his class, awarded a silver medal), 1871-77 Kunstschule Weimar, teacher at the Berlin Kunstgewerbemuseum, professor for nude drawing, member of the Verein Berliner Künstler.
