A. de Pinkas A. von Pinkas (German painter of the 19th century), ,Portrait of an Indian ruler (probably the 31st Maharawal Udai Singhji II Bahadur of Dungarpur), 1881, oil on canvas mounted on cardboard, signed and dated lower right, 56 x 46 cm, various scratches in the paint layer, A. v. Pinkas was demonstrably in India for a longer period of time at the end of the 19th century, apparently the 31st Maharawal of Dungarpur commissioned him with his portrait. The painting was acquired by the previous owner in the 1970s at the legendary Peretz auction, at which parts of the Dungarpur maharajah's art collection were auctioned off, in a flat gold frame, overall size: 65 x 55 cm.
