In 1983, for the first time, a living couturier was the subject of a retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. For this exhibition, curated by Diana Vreeland and entitled "Yves Saint Laurent - 25 Years of Design", the couturier created The Four Seasons, a series of collages depicting the four allegories of time.
