Marcel MIRACLE (born 1957) Indian ink drawing Signed 37 x 31 cm. Framed (anti-UV frame) Born in 1957 in Moramanga, Madagascar. Lives and works in Lausanne and southern Tunisia. Marcel Miracle was born in the village of Moramanga in Madagascar, the base of the mythical continent of Gondwana. He returned several times, in particular to be initiated into the divinatory practice of sikidy. This reunion gave rise to his artist's name, an anagram of the one given to him on the island, meaning "rainbow". In the 1960s, after his family returned to France, Marcel Miracle experienced the peaceful happiness of a child left free to observe what lives and what has lived in the Franche-Comté countryside: the grasses, insects, birds and stones. Nature is in his blood. Soon, books would give him the words to read it, understand it and install it in him as his muse, the object of prose, poetry or drawing. Young Marcel could think of no other occupation for his passion for drawing and writing. A geologist by training, he first worked in oil prospecting, before becoming a schoolteacher in Lausanne. Since the 1990s, Marcel Miracle has been developing a major output of drawings and collages, diverting sometimes the most minute objects into a dreamlike universe where irony vies with disquiet.
