Katsukawa Shuncho (1789-1813), Spinning silk,
Print, size at sight: 39x17.5 cm + frame 39x35 cm , titled upper left, signature lower right, fine condition. This print shows a stage in silk cultivation, sericulture. The silk cocoons are heated in hot water to loosen the silk thread, which is then wound into the spinner on the right, activated for the worker.
Japanese artist, active between 1783 and 1798. Pupil of Katsukawa Shunsho.
