Condition report: Framed Jean-Baptiste Sécheret lives and works in Paris, where he devotes most of his time to painting and printmaking. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he was also a boarder at the prestigious Casa Velázquez in Madrid.
His work is deeply influenced by Spanish artistic heritage, in particular the influence of Antonio López García. Light plays a central role.
Sécheret likes to repeat the motif, often objects taken from everyday life, taking a contemplative approach to his subjects. His work is characterized by a certain slowness and an invitation to wander, without narrative intent. His architectural compositions, inspired by the Old Masters, adopt a figuration that empties space and stops time.
