Ebrie Abron statue, Ghana/Côte d'Ivoire Wood with dark brown-black patina H. 40 cm Female statue standing on a short pedestal, legs strongly curved as a sign of vigorous work. The full bust, punctuated by high breasts, is joined by bent arms, with long hands framing an umbilicus forming the conclusion of a succession of scarifications. The face, with its coffee-bean gaze beneath soft arches, is also scarified. The complex hairstyle is made up of numerous locks turned in on themselves, forming a series of short, spherical buns. On the surface of the work, tool marks have left small, meticulous facets.
