STALAG WORKS / Set of 2 original works on paper, one watercolor and one pencil (each 9.5 x 13 cm), executed and signed by Firmin GIRBOUX in Stalag VIII A in Görlitz (Poland) in November 1941, they depict landscapes around Görlintz: In a letter (Kriegsfangenenpost) dated November 2, 1941, which he sent to his wife with the 2 drawings, Firmin Girboux explains that he has just arrived in this camp, where 40 Belgians have been grouped together. He says he is an employee of the town, and gives details of his activities and those of his comrades - one of the drawings bears the Stalag VIII A stamp on the back.
