SASSY-ARGENTAN (Orne) - CHARTER 1478 / Charter on parchment (19.5 x 18 cm) drawn up on October 20, 1478, giving the confession of a fiefdom of the Seigneurie de Sassy (Sacy) rendered by Gillot Godet to Marguerite de Courseules widow of Léonard Hays, Seigneur de Sassy et Saint-Christophe, in return for the rent of 5 sols, 1 géline (hen) and 10 eggs (NB: In 1457, Léonard Hays, esquire, from an old Norman knight family, had received a confession from Jean Godet for the inheritance of property, including ponds, in his Seignerie de Sassy; when he died in 1477, his wife Marguerite received the confession from the Godet heir; this seigniory is located between Argentan and Sées).
