BELGIAN SYMBOLIST - Constant MONTALD(1862-1944, Belgian symbolist painter) / Autograph letter signed, 3 p in-8, [1925], to an editor of "Le Gaulois", following his gift to France in 1925 of his large monumental painting created in 1922 "La France et la Belgique élèvent leurs enfants à la Source du Droit et de la Justice": he thanked him for his article, "The description you give of it has given me great joy by the understanding, clarity and simplicity with which it is done. As for the location of the work, I am aware that, presented in a panel in the middle of a beautiful room, it would produce a better effect; but at the Sorbonne there is nowhere large enough to receive it -At the Faculty of Law the management did all they could and I was happy to know my work placed in this universally renowned significant building" [This painting is also known under this title: "La France et la Belgique désaltèrent leurs enfants à la Fontaine du Bien et du Droit" - In 1925, it was placed in the Escalier d'Honneur of the Faculté de Droit in Paris].
