The partnership between the two Parisian bronzemakers Jean-François Denière (1774-1866) and François Thomas Matelin (1759-1815) was one of the most important of the first quarter of the 19th century. The two bronzemakers, active since the end of the Ancien Régime, founded one of the capital's very first bronze workshops under the Empire. The partnership ended in 1815, when Matelin died.
