A LARGE WILLIAM IV SILVER TABLE SNUFF BOX
by
Joseph Willmore, Birmingham 1832, rectangular, the hinged cover with an applied foliate border and centred by an engraved crest and motto JOVAE PRAESTAT FIDERE QUAM HOMINE, the sides and base engine-turned, inscribed 1936 / J.H.H. / 1958 to the underside. 10cm long, 6.9 troy ounces
The marks are clear. The hinge is in good order, and the lid closes well. The foliate border and engine-turning is crisp. The gilded interior is good. The box is generally in good condition.
