History :
Victor de Faÿ de La Tour-Maubourg, born on May 22, 1768 in La Motte-de-Galaure and died on November 11, 1850 in Dammarie-les-Lys, came from a noble family and embarked on a military career at an early age. During the French Revolution, he served in the army and was captured by the Austrians, before being freed through a prisoner exchange in 1797. Under the Consulate and Empire, La Tour-Maubourg became a loyal follower of Napoleon Bonaparte. He took part in numerous campaigns, including those in Italy and Spain, and distinguished himself as a courageous cavalry commander. In 1809, he was made a Count of the Empire and given the title of Senator. After the fall of Napoleon in 1815, he joined the Restoration and served Louis XVIII. He was appointed Minister of War in 1819, and devoted himself to modernizing the French army. He retired from public life in 1830 after the July Revolution.
