Louis XVI style, after a model by René Dubois
in rosewood veneer, opening to a drawer in the waist and two concave side doors, richly decorated with lacquer panels in the Japanese style and gilded bronzes featuring mermaids on the jambs, doves on the front, garlands of flowers, acanthus leaves, lattice work and lingotières. Pink veined marble top.

This pair of console chests of drawers is based on a model in the Wallace Collection, London, originally designed by René Dubois and presented to Marie-Antoinette for her marriage to the Dauphin of France, the future Louis XVI.
