PARIS 1924
Exceptional Sèvres porcelain vase awarded to the winners of the gold medal. The work of Master O. Guillonnet and Émile Bracquemond, it is 33.5 cm high and was made by the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres. The decoration is intended to glorify sports. On the neck, a flight of aeroplanes links the nations, and on the belly, four round cartels featuring nude athletes evoke diving, soccer, rowing and rugby, in a nod to the ancient origins of the Olympic Games. Each cartel presents the figures in white paste, set in semi-relief on a gray background in a round frame of laurel garland tied with ribbons. The background of the vase is blue with gold laurel uprights. There are four different models for a total of 309 pieces each. Museum piece.
