Friedrich Max "Fritz" Heinsheimer (1897-1958) or Fernand Husser (his pseudonym in France during the First World War). A German painter representing expressive realism, he was a disciple of the painter Max Slevogt. He painted landscapes, portraits and sports scenes. This painting was presented at the finals of the 1928 Olympic Art Competition in Amsterdam, and depicts the Canadian Olympic Ice Hockey Team playing against the Berlin Hockey Club. The Canadian team dominated the discipline, winning successive Olympic Games in 1920-1924-1928 and 1932. Identification label on the back from Mr. Ernst Scheid, the painter's nephew. Signature on the back. Overall dimensions 74.5x98 cm. Good condition. Museum
