ATLANTA 1996. Official torch of the XXVI Summer Olympics in aluminum and Georgia pecan wood, designed by Peter Mastrogiannis. The 22 reeds represent the cities where the Olympic Games have been held since 1896. Joined by 2 gold-plated brass bands, the upper band displays the Atlanta flame logo and leaf motif, while the lower band lists all the Olympic cities since 1896. The pecan wood handle represents the flame's connection between heaven and earth. The flame was lit in Olympia. It reached Los Angeles on April 27 and ended its journey 84 days later in Atlanta, carried by 10,000 torchbearers including horses, bicycles, trains, ships and seaplanes. Length 80 cm. Good condition.
