An unsophisticated copy of this first edition, one of the most comprehensive repertories on maritime insurance published at the time, listing numerous types of insurance contracts in relation to the laws and customs of all major European markets. Sadly, among the items covered by insurance are slaves, to whom a few paragraphs are devoted. 3 vols, folio (270 x 208mm). One engraved plate with Lord Acton's arms to second volume (which should be to first), vignettes to title pages, uncut (light waterstains to upper margin). Contemporary boards, title lettered to spine in manuscript (light wear, some waterstaining to boards). (3)
