WIDMANN, Carlo Aurelio (1750-1798). Discorso apologetico. s.l. (but Venice): s.n, 1799.
First posthumous edition of this apologetic discourse, written by the author to defend himself against accusations of embezzlement by the citizens of Corfu. Widmann was the last to hold the prestigious post of Provveditore Generale da Mar, the head of Venetian politics, administration, and the navy in the Levant. 'Apparently first and only edition of this extremely scarce work on affairs in the Ionian islands up to the arrival of the French in 1797' [Contominas 791].
