Pocket version of the first photographic iconology of the brain and nervous system, originally published as 'Iconographie photographique des centres nerveux' in 3 volumes, the first atlas of neuroanatomy illustrated by 52 photographs. Jules-Bernard Luys (1828-1897) was the first to use photography in the study of the anatomy of the brain after having initially used lithographs; he was behind the discovery of the subthalamic or subthalamic nucleus (Nucleus subthalamicus) to which he gave his name, the corpus Luysii.
