REMBRANDT VAN RIJN (1606-1669). Beggar with a wooden leg. '1630' (but eighteenth-century edition).
A fine impression of this engraving by Rembrandt depicting a beggar, identified in the inventory of Clement de Jonghe, the engraver friend who surveyed 74 of Rembrandt's original plates, as 'capteyn eenbeen' (captain with one leg) probably a well-known beggar from the streets of Amsterdam.
Engraving, (130 x 80 mm). Original etching executed in 1630, second state of two with rounded corners, from an eighteenth-century print run (White-Boon, no. 179). (1)
