Rare, fine work covering French history from king Faramund to the conquest of Corsica, illustrated by David's engraved plates. The fifth volume, published nine years after the first and often missing, is present. 5 parts in two volumes, 4to, (240 x 175mm). 140 plates engraved by David from drawings by Le Jeune, 5 engraved title-pages following typographic title-pages (some browning, according to OPAC pp. 201-204 of the second volume are missing, but the text appears complete). Contemporary full calf binding with gilt title-pieces to spine, cloth place-markers (light wear to boards). Provenance: private library markings to endpapers. (2)
