Rizzi Zanoni produced this map on commission from Ferdinando Galliani with the assistance of the government of the Kingdom of Naples; although it lacks astronomical and geodetic foundations, it represents a considerable advance over previous surveys of the area. Engraved by Louis Germain, Perrier, and André Gaspard, it covers the entire territory from Terra di Lavoro to the Straits of Messina and is striking for the sharpness of the engraving, the accuracy of the orographic representation, and the richness of its detail.
