Original and large RUG from Samarkand (border between China and Russia, on the Silk Road).
Wool velvet on cotton foundation.
Pinkish-beige field with geometric floral design. Four borders, the main beige one with interlacing geometrically stylized palmettes surrounded by crenellated branches. Décor reminiscent of Caucasian carpets.
Circa 1965.
