Exceptional and very important CARPET from Aubusson, France. Needlepoint tapestry technique using wool threads on cotton backing. Pale green field decorated with finely drawn polychrome garlands of stylized flower cords framing a large, round ivory central medallion inlaid with a bouquet of multicolored flowers. Large, original wine-red and old pink border with interlacing branches of crenellated foliage in old gold and ochre twists. Remarkably fresh colors. Late 19th century, Napoleon III period. Size: 550 x 500 cm. (Very well preserved, good overall condition)
