Francisco Cortijo began his training in 1947 at the School of Arts and Crafts in Amor de Dios Street, due to his drawing abilities, Rafael Cantarero, Francisco Manzano, Diego Mollejas and Rafael García Diéguez, were his teachers during this period. Until finally, three years later, he began to study at the School of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel de Hungría, in Seville. His work is characterized by research in portraiture and the capture of the psychological aptitudes of the portrayed. Throughout his artistic production, his pictorial language oscillated between realism and surrealism, generating sometimes, as in this particular case, an image with a great symbolist charge.
