Painter, sculptor and glassmaker, André Bréchet was trained at the Kunstgewebeschule in Basel. After traveling for a long time, he settled in Paris, where he was a student of André Lhote and Fernand Léger. During this period in the French capital he frequented notably the Swiss sculptors Alberto Giacometti and Jean Tinguely, the French poet Paul Fort, the French cubist painter Jacques Villon and the Catholic writer Paul Claudel. He created stained glass windows for churches in Switzerland, the United States and France.
