HISTORY:
Lotte Hofmann was one of the most progressive German textile artists of her generation. Influenced by the principles of the Bauhaus, she opened her own studio in southern Germany in 1946 (Werkstatt Loho). Here she experimented with innovative techniques and fresh abstract and figurative designs, often combining brilliant color harmonies with relief elements, giving her textile art a highly dynamic feel. In addition to large tapestries and wall hangings for public and domestic spaces, she has created a variety of other designs for cushions, bedspreads, curtains and a series of toy animals.
