MARCELÍ GINER I FOLCH (Marçà, Priorat, 1918-2006). "Bust of a child. Painted terracotta. Signed on the back. Presents very slight lack of polychrome. Measurements: 10 x 9 x 9 x 9 cm. Catalan sculptor, draftsman, and ceramist known artistically as Marçà-Giné, Marsaginer, Marçaginer or Marçà-Giner. His career as a sculptor began late, when at the age of 29 he moved to Barcelona to study at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where his teacher was Llucià Oslé. In 1952 and 1953 he was awarded a prize at the National Exhibition of University Art in Madrid. In 1953 he also received a third prize in the Provincial Competition of the Centro de lectura de Reus, with the work "Segadora". In 1955 he participated with three works in the III Spanish-American Biennial. At that time he enjoyed a scholarship from the Fray Junipero Serra College. In 1954 he won an honorable mention in the same contest for "Maternidad".
