Ballerina. Germany, Art Deco period, 30-50s.
Hand painted wooden body. Methacrylate and glass on the skirt and bow.
It shows wear and some lack of polychrome.
Measurements: 20 x 17 x 11 cm.
Ornamental sculpture in round bulk with the form of a beautiful woman of stylized but naturalistic anatomy, executing a dynamic dance step, kneeling and with the arm raised. A transparent ribbon falls delicately around her arm. It is a realistic work in its modeling but rigorous and geometric in its composition, perfectly reflecting the aesthetic basis of Art Deco.
