Better known as Buciños, the sculptor Manuel García Vázquez has developed practically all his career in Ourense, linked to the group led by the writer Vicente Risco, called Os Artistiñas. He began his career working in wood with a language influenced by Cristino Mallo and Antón Failde Gago, and later switched to bronze, evolving into an appreciation of emptiness that evokes the work of Henry Moore and Julio González. Throughout his career he has held numerous exhibitions, both in Spain and abroad. He is currently represented in all the museums of Galicia, as well as in numerous public institutions and private collections. His work combines figurative references with a refined formal synthetism that links him to avant-garde trends such as cubism or geometric abstraction.
