French school late 18th c- early 19th c, "Montée de Mr de Saussure sur la cime du Montblanc au mois d'aout 1783" and "Descente de Mr de Saussure de la cime du Montblanc au mois d'aout 1783". Two engravings heightened with gouache, H: 34 cm, L: 43 cm (when viewed). The original views, inspired by those of Marquard Wocher, were drawn by Johann Michael Voltz (Nördlingen 1784-1858) and printed by J.-P. Lamy in Basel around 1820.
