Journées Sportives en Afrique du Nord.
1 Exceptional album containing around 300 original photos of the sporting events held in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria from April 18 to May 5, 1941. These souvenirs were collected for Marshal Pétain, head of the French state, who commissioned Jean Borotra, Commissaire Général à l'Éducation général et aux Sports, to salute the sportsmen and women who took part in the various events, as pioneers in the physical and moral renewal of the nation. This copy was presented to Admiral François Darlan, head of the French Navy
and minister in the first government of the Vichy regime, when history used sport as propaganda. One of the very few copies published. Bound in 32x44 cm format. 116 hardback pages. Good condition.
