Audience scene, modern Indian work. Gouache on paper folio of an older manuscript depicting an audience granted by a turbaned sovereign kneeling on the terrace of his pavilion, to a dignitary prostrate before him. All around, various members of the court are busy observing the scene or preparing food for a meal. At the top, two lines of Persian nasta'liq text suggest the support as a manuscript folio. Framed. 20th century. Height 28 - W. 16 cm (as is, small tears, wormholes, stains, polychromy missing, one repair at top). Expert : Madame Camille Celier.
