BAOULE, IVORY COAST.
Weaving loom stirrup.
With its schematized features, the face of this zoomorphic figure presents a profound expression of serenity, rendered by its large, closed eyelids, magnified by fine eyebrow arches linked to a long, slender nose. The face leans back slightly, the small rectangular mouth hollowed out, reinforcing the impression of deep sleep. The figure's forehead has a light, honey-brown patina, attesting to the multiple rubs. The entire stylized body is decorated with engraved geometric motifs.
Wood, plant fibers, iron.
