BAOULE, IVORY COAST.
Weaving loom stirrup.
A schematization of the body's shape, in line with the traditional use of these objects for weaving. A late work, carved in light wood with darker shades, the long, emaciated neck announces an oval face with pronounced features; the naturalistic nose, with flared nostrils, is skilfully linked to the superciliary arches. A conical headdress tops the ensemble.
