SAVINA Joseph (1901-1983) Suite of eight straw-bedecked chairs in patinated oak, the carved panel back decorated with Celtic motifs. They stand on four straight legs, the fronts partially turned (Wear, stains). Height 101.5 cm x W 46 cm x D 52 cm Joseph Savina, a cabinetmaker by trade, met Le Corbusier during a brief vacation in Trégor in 1935. After several exchanges on their respective works, the two men began a fruitful collaboration. Savina's furniture is particularly representative of the Seiz Breur's work in the applied arts. They are distinguished by their proportions and clean lines, which are emphasized here by Celtic-inspired motifs. This family of furniture, created in the Tréguier workshops, is known as "interlaced", and the very first set dates from the early 1950s. Production continued until the late 1960s.
