Workshop of Federico Barocci (1535 - 1612) "Adoration of Shepherds", important oil on panel from the Italian school of Urbino from the 16th - 17th centuries
Oil on oak board. Measurements only oak board: 31 x 23 cm. Measurements with frame: 44 x 35 cm. Version on panel of the same work preserved in the Prado Museum painted towards the end of the 16th century with slight variations in the colors of St. Joseph's tunic. It is known that Barocci had retained a copy for himself in a slightly larger format that he kept in his studio in the Archbishop's Palace as a model for future versions of the same; currently preserved in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana of which he said it was one of the most precious things he owned.
