Condition report: Framed An admirer of the painter Jean-Léon Gérôme, the American artist and adventurer Edwin Lord Weeks trained in Paris at Léon Bonnat's studio. From the 1870s to the 1890s, he traveled through Spain, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Persia and India. His scenes of Egypt and Morocco brought him early success and recognition as one of America's leading Orientalist painters.
