Elie Anatole Pavil (1873-1948)
Le Jardin des Tuilerie, Paris Oil on panel signed lower left 15.5 x 22 cm Born Ilya Anatolevitch Pavil in Odessa, Pavil arrived in Paris in 1892, where he worked with Bouguereau and Detaille.
After his first solo exhibition with George Bernheim, he exhibited regularly with Petit and Charpentier, as well as at the Salons d'Automne, des Indépendants and des Artistes Français.
Although he fell in love with Montmartre and Paris, he left them in 1935 for Morocco, where he painted until his death.
