Presented on its wooden base with a plaque reading "LE NEPTUNE, vessel with three decks and 100 cannons, circa 1761".

HMS Neptune was a 98-gun Royal Navy ship of the line of second rank. Neptune served in a multitude of different positions throughout the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. She was also present at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
