RARE PAIR OF EGYPTIAN CANDELABRA
Empire style, late 19th century. Composed of two gilded bronze light arms.
Decorated with kneeling Egyptian women, dressed in loincloths and wearing Némès headdresses, they support on their heads a pole with two clusters of lights in the form of cornucopias adorned with palmettes and ending in trumpets.
Imitating Egyptian temples, the sloping bases are finely sculpted with hieroglyphic motifs, and are rectangular in gilded bronze.
Size: 39 x 17 x 11 cm
Very good condition, original gilding with double patina (wear to gilding and old cleaning).
Sold by designation
In the style of Claude Galle's work in Paris circa 1804, for Louis Bonaparte and Hortense de Beauharnais at the Château de St Leu.
