Ceiling ornament of Chinese construction. Qing Dynasty, 19th century.
Wood carving gilded with fine gold.
It presents marks of use, wear and some slight lack.
Measurements: 28 x 73 x 5 cm.
Fine gold gilded wood carving representing a dragon with a scaled body and expressive head with open jaws. Its imposing aspect is accentuated by the fact that it is accompanied by proportionally tiny figures compared to the undulating body of the mythological reptile. Possibly, it was part of the eaves of a Chinese construction.
