Andalusian School; early nineteenth century.
"Still life with peacocks".
Oil on canvas.
It has a period frame.
Measurements: 95 x 128 cm; 104 x 138 cm (frame).
In this scene the artist combines landscape painting, floral still lifes and animal painting. Aesthetically the work is inspired by stylistic models of Baroque painting. This type of painting starring animals became popular during the nineteenth century due to the change in collecting, which requested a less regal painting that reflected themes of lighter tone. In this particular case a rooster, a dove and a peacock share the stage and demonstrate the great skill of the author in relation to the capture of animals, which are treated aesthetically from a truthful and realistic perspective.
