Frame; Spain, Charles II period, last third of the 17th century.
Carved wood and fine gold.
Measurements: 119 x 95 cm; 65 x 50,5 cm (light).
Frame in carved and gilded wood, worked with a predominantly quadrangular line evoking in its aura natural elements such as acanthus leaves, volutes or a scallop on the crest that finishes off the composition. This way of working the frames is similar to examples of Rococo frames, the common features of which can be seen in the gilt frame with a rectangular light to frame and protect the interior. In addition to the decoration of the outline from which criss-crossed vegetal elements extend along the entire profile and are crowned by an upper moulding with a large curled acanthus leaf and the characteristic shell.
